Commercial detection is working fairly well with DVRMSToolbox and ShowAnalyzer, but it takes significant effort to get these working and keep working. ShowAnalyzer is buggy but is about the only choice for scanning WTV type recordings. An alternative is to convert them to DVR-MS file types and scan with ComSkip, but you have to wait until the recording is completed (SA is able to scan while the recording is being made.)
Current SA version is 1.1.0.825 (6/5/10); current DVRSMSToolbox is 1.2.2.4 (5/9/11).
Problems I've had include:
ShowAnalyzerEngine processes running forever (detect and kill).
Can't open SA UI (usually many scan process running, detect and kill).
SA can't scan file, various errors (convert to DVR-MS and rescan with SA or if that doesn't work ComSkip)
These are not much different than the known problems listed here. When com skip data is missing there are a couple of conditions:
No XML file at all.
XML file contains only "</root>".
The .log file has "Unexpected error: Error initializing metadata parser". Not sure if that is boast cases above or one or the other only.
Comskip 0.80.042, made using:

The commandline used was:

Opening B:\Movies\Being Julia (2004)\Being Julia (2004).dvr-ms

Hmm. Wait a while and it does finish. XML looks good; TVUtils will have to move it to the CommercialsXML folder. Oh, try output_dvrmstb=1 in comskip.ini as per the above posting. No, file still goes to same folder as input DVR-MS file. I'll make the program move it when it check for it.
